The CareJourney Patient Support Program currently supports adult patients seeking access to TAVALISSE for the treatment of thrombocytopenia with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) who have had an insufficient response to other treatments in three ways:
Since the launch of the program, Medison Canada has provided access to TAVALISSE to more than 145 patients across Canada. In parallel, Medison has been diligently working on securing access for patients with ITP in Canada. Unfortunately, both CADTH and INESSS have recently recommended TAVALISSE not be reimbursed in Canada. Effective Friday June 9, 2023, Medison Canada will close access to TAVALISSE free-of-charge for new patients unable to secure private or public reimbursement. All existing patients who have previously been approved to receive TAVALISSE free-of-charge through the CareJourney Patient Support Program will continue to be supported until the end of their treatment. Reimbursement investigation and co-pay assistance (as needed) will also continue to be provided. We understand that patients without private insurance will face difficulties accessing TAVALISSE. Medison Canada remains committed to supporting you and your patients with ITP and will continue engaging with stakeholders to seek opportunities for public reimbursement of TAVALISSE.
